Matilda Fleberg 2023

Zirkonen

The dance concert Zirkonen is a modern creation myth. A discursive voyage through time where we’re deposited into an idyllic utopia, only to get shipwrecked on the shores of a dystopic apocalypse. How does it sound when nature turns its back on us humans? And how many beats per minute are there in an artificial heart?

With the help of four dancers and four musicians, choreographer Matilda Fleberg and the musical duo VAZ immerse the stage in the sights and sounds of an epic creation tale. We’re invited into a bold, new universe where hypnotic, symmetrical movements are accompanied by the sounds of Afro-Nordic futurism. Infused with ecocriticism, AI and surrealism, we’re lulled into an endless loop born from ashes and cinders.

    Choreographer

Matilda Fleberg’s choreographic language is infused with symmetry and symbiosis. Her work, which features detailed precision and dynamic rhythms, is often characterised as ‘expressive’. Her unique ability to foster cohesion and chemistry amongst her dancers and train them to move like a well-oiled machine is the reason behind her rousing success in Sweden and abroad. Fleberg’s work has appeared in ad campaigns for Dior and Fashion Week as well as in the television productions The Voice and Eurovision. Her choreography has also appeared in a number of artists’ music videos and stage appearances. In 2021, Ms Fleberg started her own dance troupe ‘Fleco Dance Company’. The troupe prioritises cross-industry collaborations with creators from art forms such as film, photography and music. Her first project for the company, the short film ‘Fleco Project 001’, achieved international success and was recognised by, among others, MTV Post, NY Feature and LAFeature.
