Andersson Dance & Schottish Ensemble Goldberg Variations

Bach’s Goldberg Variations from 1741 is not only one of the most well known and appreciated works ever composed, but also one of the most interpreted. Almost 275 years later, the choreographer Örjan Andersson and Jonathan Morton, artistic director of the Scottish Ensemble do their own interpretation: 11 musicians and 5 dancers perform the Goldberg Variations as equal partners – a seamless experience where musicians and dancers expressions merge into a unit. Örjan Andersson is one of Sweden’s most respected and renowned choreographers and is since 1996 the artistic director of Andersson Dance. He creates different kinds of choreographic works, often with focus on live music, and touring both in Sweden and internationally. Goldberg Variations – ternary patterns for insomnia is the fifth production by Andersson Dance touring with Dansnät Sverige. String Orchestra Scottish Ensemble led by Jonathan Morton’s hallmark to always play standing, without a conductor. They have been working since 1969 and the repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary. Known for their spectacular performances they have played in everything from Europe’s biggest concert halls of the abandoned tower blocks. Goldberg Variations was performed in Jönköping, Gävle, Västerås, Kungsbacka, Vara and Umeå.

Art of Spectra Fragment

In Fragments greeted the audience of a dreamlike and sometimes brutally memory collage. Embedded in the light of projections moving dancers in harmony as well as in conflict, as equals, but in a constant power struggle. Music, image and voice strengthens Choreographer Peter Svenzons intensive language of movement that can be described as both violent and crude. As a ticking pendulum, we are confronted with fragments of memories of others as well as our own. Fragments was performed in Kalmar, Haparanda, Luleå, Kiruna, Karlstad, Linköping, Jönköping, Uddevalla and Borås.

Gunilla Heilborn The Knowledge

In Gunilla Heilborn expression world come together the profound with the absurd. She takes on the existence, big and small issues with her peculiar style that is characterized by evocative rhythm and twisted, philosophical humor. In The Knowledge she drills down in memory techniques, navigation and illusions of truth. For the first time in a long time Gunilla Heilborn stands herself on stage and holds a designed lecture that makes your brain grow. The Knowledge was performed in Umeå, Gotland, Malmö, Kungsbacka and Linköping.

Jefta van Dinther & Thiago Granato This is Concrete

“This is Concrete” is a meditative and intimate dance piece that takes us to a Berlin-based gay club where time has been eliminated. A choreographic slow motion turns into high speed when Jefta van Dinther and Thiago Granato meet in a sweaty pulsating duet. Body, music and distorted voices results in an erotic encounter which treats the audience on a handful of surprises. This is Concrete was performed in Malmö and Växjö.

Krosness & Pekula Collaborations ÖDE(s)HÖGAR

If you mix two beige brown gray figures, with gestural dance, swearing and dry humor, what do you get? Well, DESTINY (S) PILES. Inspired by Jan Stenmark and wisdom takes Disa Krosness and Erika Pekula us to a landscape framed by potato, soil and fortune cookies. An absurd dance theater with playful Choreography … where we suddenly become familiar with a singing horse. Ödeshögar was performed in Sunne, Gotland, Luleå, Älvsbyn and Piteå.

K. Kvarnström & Co & Susanna Leinonen 3×3

The performance 3 x 3, we meet two Choreographer in cooperation with three dancers each. In Susanna Leinonen works See | OBEY we are confronted with a powerful synthesis between film, dance, music and text. Leinonen works as always with a mix of darkness and humor and processes This theme surrounding energies and natural tendencies. In Kenneth Kvarnström’s work TRE three men, three objects and three setting form some of the starting points of the show. Three people, three individuals, working collectively and individually. Three is a show with a little more darkness, of community and individualism. 3×3 was performed in Vara, Göteborg, Västerås, Gävle, Halmstad, Karlskrona and Växjö.

Milan Tomasik Hunting Season

The senses are alert, muscles tense, it’s hunting season. Meet six honed dancers, animals and hunters, in a two-part conception of life and death. With a twinkle in the eye reflects the Slovak Milan Tomasik human vulnerability, longing and living conditions in dramatic performance accompanied by strings. With the tradition of both classic as well as contemporary dance dancers glide in and out of his flock, as vigilant as animal tougher as hunters. But who is really the prey? Hunting Season was performed in Jönköping, Falkenberg, Kungsbacka and Umeå.

Björn Säfsten Language Fools

What is language and how do we communicate? Choreographer Björn Säfsten create together with three of Sweden’s foremost dancers the piece “Language Fools”. In an age where languages – physically, verbally and in writing – plays an increasingly important role in our lives. The work has its origins in a game with the gesture, words, body language, spoken language and the language in a broad sense. Through choreographic exploration, they seek to open your eyes to view the bodies, individuals and objects from a new perspective. What is defined as normal? Which perspective on the world considered to be foolish, and what is normal? Language Fools was performed in Växjö, Ljungby, Karlskrona, Olofström, Umeå, Stockholm, Falkenberg and Jönköping.

Helena Franzén Meeting You

The choreographers and dancers Helena Franzén and Ori Flomin met in New York already in the 90s. Now they have created a duet about friendship and togetherness – also performing together. With abstract and sharp choreographic language, they lift and support each other, balance and shift the centre of gravity. This is a personal performance with warmth and resistance, which reflects their long friendship. Meeting You was performed in Skellefteå, Gävle, Linköping, Jönköping, Malmö and Borås.

Igor & Moreno Idiot-Syncrasy

Two seemingly unpretentious guys entre the stage. Soon they prove to be extremely persistent and consistent. With a great sense of humour and warmth Igor & Moreno delivers a work that actually jumps into the heart of the audience. Up and down, constantly, without pausing, not even for a whiskey. The difference between genius and madness is certainly hopeful. Idiot-Syncrasy was performed in Malmö, Lund, Kalmar, Karlskrona and Växjö.

KVS/Les ballets C de la B Badke

“BADKE” is an Arabic dance fest where ten dancers from Palestine fire a burst of energy, smiles and joy to dance. The performance title is a deliberate twist of the name of the popular Palestinian folk dance dabke. Through claps, stamping, singing and whistling the dancers express their desire for belonging to be a part of the world. Prepare yourself for high tempo and for catching a desire to move. Les Ballets C de la B offers a vivacious performance including playful acrobatics, hip hop, capoeira and male belly dancing. You don’t want to miss this! Badke was performed in Stockholm, Malmö, Göteborg, Kungsbacka, Jönköping, Västerås, Karlskrona and Umeå.

Marco D’Agostin Everything is OK

In “Everything is OK” the audience is over washed by an intense flow of words and disjointed movements recovered from popular culture phenomenon such as voguing, ballet, mime, jazz, rap and more. This is a solo performance with endless many faces. By diving into a never-ending noise –  reminding of today’s information society – Marco D’Agostin challenges his audience to see how much one can manage. When exhaustion follows – it is drenched in sweat. Everything is OK was performed in Visby, Boden, Skellefteå, Jönköping and Vara.

Panta rei dansteater I wish her well

In “I wish her well”, we meet women’s history, casual and nostalgic, these stories rarely found in the history books of kings and wars. We dive into a seventy years old diary depicting the lives and dreams of four women. In poetic and flowing choreography the movements are light and synchronized portraying memories to dreamy humming and storytelling. A performance about life’s volatility and times ability to drain away. I wish her well was performed in Västerås, Linköping, Visby and Gävle.

Rocio Molina & Rosario La Tremendita Afectos

Large and powerful art is created through the pure and unadorned. “Afectos” is a good example of how flamenco can take a leap from the traditional without losing its origin. In this bare setting there’s room for passion, heat and vibration. With voice, singing, stamping and silence Rocio Molina and Rosario La Tremendita meet in an electrical interaction. The playful, the intimate and the dramatic coexist with jazz and classical flamenco music. Afectos was performed in Västerås, Vara, Göteborg, Borås and Luleå.

Tabea Martin Field

This is the show that celebrates the hundred best love songs. It makes us smile and reminds us of our first slow dance and first kiss. In “Field”, we meet a trio that demonstrates infatuation, desperation and our desperate attempt to find closeness. What do we do to get attention? These dancers throw their clothes, clings and sings a medley of love songs to set your heart on fire. Field was performed in Malmö, Umeå, Uddevalla, Kungsbacka and Halmstad.
