Skånes Dansteater
Spirits

Three choreographers meet and share an evening at Skånes Dansteater.

Inspired by the Egyptian mythology Virpi Pahkinen created Nehebkau for Skånes Dasteater.

Marie Brolin-Tani presented her piece Searching inspired by the story of Jeanne d’Arc. Searching is not a biography but is based on a human theme, relating to the difficult choices people are faced with. Marie Brolin-Tani was during this period temporary Artistic Director for Skånes Dansteater.

Tender Hooks is created by the Dutch choreographer Didy Veldman. As starting-point she has taken the atmosphere round the vacant space one sometimes is left in when trying to communicate but not necessarily succeeds. The performance had its first opening night in Portugal at Ballet Gulbenkian 2003.

Spirits was performed in Västerås, Säffle, Jönköping and Varberg.

Maria Clara Villa-Lobos
XL, Because Size Does Matter

XL, Because Size Does Matter is the Brazilian, now living in Belgium, choreographer Maria Clara Villa-Lobos’ first group choreography. The 30 minutes long opening scene takes place in an interactive fast food restaurant where the audience have the possibility to choose from the menu a Double De Keybus or a Trish & chips. After the visit to the restaurant Maria Clara Villa-Lobos performs her own choreography in a factory-look-alike environment where she alternates between production line work, showbiz, strip-tease and shopping trolley dance. With irony and a great deal of humour XL, because size does matter gives a critical view on society’s mass consumption.

XL, Because Size Does Matter was performed in Karlstad, Skellefteå, Umeå, Halmstad, Jönköping, Linköping, Västerås, Sundsvall, Gävle and Stockholm.

Dorte Olesen
Ful flicka

Dorte Olesen originates from Denmark and has been working in Sweden since 1992 as a choreographer. Dorte Olesen creates without any respect for scenic conventions a mixed form of dance, images and theatre. Her focus is on the inherent possibilities of the human body, and to convey both physical and psychical manifestos, by using improvisation and rhythm as tools to create human behaviours.

Dorte Olesen places in her dance performance Ful flicka the body’s possibilities to communicate in the centre on a physical and psychical level. She comments and interprets human behaviours by reflecting the world she experiences around her. She is eager to raise the vulnerable society, and with focus on the unhappy children who are becoming more violent, who refuse to be responsible for their actions but who in reality hunger for love.
